Letter Regarding Former U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, Elbridge Gerry and Gerrymandering in Georgia

Included below is a February 16, 2016 letter sent earlier today to Georgia’s General Assembly regarding former U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, Elbridge Gerry and Gerrymandering in Georgia. An inaugural 2016 Georgia Poll on Gerrymandering is included as part of the letter (inspired by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and League of Women Voters’ perennial “Georgia Voter Guide”), which asks if the members agree with the idea of creating an independent redistricting commission, which, according to political-scientists like Charles Bullock of the University of Georgia, is an easy and common prescription for putting an end to problematic “partisan gerrymandering” in a state.
